The aim of this symposium is to promote research results in the development and analysis of stochastic models arising among others in communication systems, manufacturing, production, service operations, supply chain/inventory management, and biological systems. Its scope includes both methodological and computational advances. In particular, it aims to bring together researchers working both on the theoretical, algorithmic and computational aspects of the methods applied in stochastic models, and on the applications of such methods across a broad spectrum of research fields.

The topics include but not limited to the following:

  • Matrix analytic methods

  • Queueing models and scheduling disciplines

  • Markov processes

  • Level-dependent structured Markov chains (e.g. QBD, M/G/1, G/M/1, etc.)

  •  Stochastic biological models

  • Performance models for telecommunications and information systems

  • Stochastic models for power-saving policies in communication systems

  • Performance models for call centers

  • Computational methods

  • Supply chains

  • Stochastic models in manufacturing

  • Production and inventory management

  • Fluid and diffusion limits

  • Multidimensional Markov chains

Submissions: Indicate your interest in presenting a paper by submitting an extended abstract (3-4 pages) by July 20, 2016 by email to the organizers:

Tuan Phung-Duc (tuan@sk.tsukuba.ac.jp) and Ioannis Dimitriou (idimit@math.upatras.gr)

Authors will be notified of the acceptance or rejection of their paper by July 30, 2016. At least one author of each accepted paper is expected to participate in the workshop. Instruction for the authors can be found in http://icnaam.org/abstract.htm, and further information about important dates here.

Accepted papers will be included in the AIP Conference Proceedings of ICNAAM 2016. The American Institute of Physics (AIP) Conference Series is a very well known series of Conference Proceedings, which is included in the leading databases of scientic & engineering literature including Inspec, Scitation, ISI Web of Knowledge, MathSciNet, Scopus, Google Scholar. The Volumes of AIP Conference Proceedings are immediately available online.

NEW SPECIAL ISSUES: All participants of the First Mini symposium on Stochastic Models: Methods and Applications (SAMMA 2016), and other researchers whose work is within the scope of the SAMMA are invited to submit their papers for consideration in:

  1. A special volume of the International journal of Advances in Operations Research (Hindawi Publishing Corporation) on Stochastic Models: Advances in Theory and Applications.

  2. A special volume of the International journal of Global and Stochastic Analysis (MUK Publications) on Analytical and Stochastic Modelling.

Moreover, selected full papers of ICNAAM 2016 will be published in

  1. Journal of Numerical Analysis, Industrial and Applied Mathematics (JNAIAM) (Promacon), which is the ocial journal of European Society of Computational Methods in Sciences and Engineering.

  2.  Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences (Wiley & Sons)

  3. Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences (AMIS). The Appl. Math. Inf. Sci. is reviewed and indexed in the Mathematical Reviews, MathSciNet, EBESCO, AMS, Scopus and Zentralblatt fur Mathematik databases. Guest Editor: Prof. Dr. Theodore E. Simos, Chairman ICNAAM.
